ATTN: Dirty Windows May Cause Hyperventilation! Vinegar, newspapers, t-shirts, and Windex! My goodness, it is easy to get stressed when it comes to cleaning windows. Everyone has that friend or distant cousin who claims to have the “secret” window cleaning solution. These “secret” solutions come and go and usually most people are left frustrated and hopeless. But there is good news! You actually CAN have streak free, spotless, crystal clear glass if you know a few things from a pro like me. First of all, the solution you use is not nearly as important as most people think. The way that you remove the solution from the glass is the first important step. When using newspaper or paper towels, you actually leave a lot of debris on the glass. This method also does not truly remove all the cleaner from the glass, which is where the streaks come from. Buying a squeegee is step 1. Next, grab a bucket and some dish soap and get ready for step 2. Fill your bucket up with the water BEFORE adding a couple of good squirts of your favorite dish soap. After the soap is in, gently swirl the water around to evenly distribute the soap. We do not want foam, people! Simply use a sponge or a scrubber and wet the glass you want to clean, and then squeegee it off. (Pro’s secret: The soap is what provides the lubrication for the squeegee and that is its only real purpose!) The 3rd step is making sure you only use “low lint” or microfiber towels when touching the glass. This is VERY important. After your done squeegeeing you will need to wipe the edges of the glass to prevent drips. Make sure the towel is perfectly dry and also use the towel to buff out any finger prints that may have been missed with the squeegee. That is it! If you follow these tips your windows will be so clean that every bird within a mile of your home will despise you. P.S. If you have stubborn yucky stuff on your glass, or hard water stains, or whatever else, you may need to call a professional to chemically treat your glass. However, perfect windows can be achieved by a do it yourselfer! P.S.S. If you would rather us do the job, we would be happy to.
